Everyday Life Koans Part 2: Plunging Into the Gap
In part two of this series in our Three Treasures Practice Program, Gyodo Sensei offers further reflections on Everyday Life Koans - the deep questions of our life and heart that cannot be resolved through intellectual or conceptual approaches. Koans arise in the gap between our life as we want it to be - with all its attachments and wishful thinking - and life as-it-is, unfolding all the time. When working with a koan, we let go of the analytical mind and plunge directly into the intimate, visceral experience of that gap. At the end of the talk, Practice Leader Charlie Jodo Meerts-Brandsma shares his personal experience with a life koan involving his family relationships and desire for authentic connection followed by a short Q&A with sangha members.
