Jizo and the Fool : Not Knowing is the Most Intimate

On the eve of April Fool’s Day, Practice Leader Lisa Gkayo offers a talk on the wisdom of the fool and Case 20 from the Book of Equanimity "Jizo's Most Intimate." The stance of the fool is one of not-knowing. Uninhibited by dogma. Willing to step into the unknown and respond to life’s challenges whole-heartedly and authentically.

We all want to know things, and find comfort and safety in knowing. But when we let go of our perceived notions and intellectual certainty, we can open ourselves up to the direct experience of reality. As Zenju Earthlyn Manual said, "It is in the intimacy of not-knowing that we touch the essence of existence itself.”
