Personal Care
Each morning, approach your bathing and personal care as you would a Zen service during a retreat. Pay attention to each task -- brushing your teeth, shaving, combing your hair --with your full awareness. Turn off the news or other distractions. Stand squarely and face the mirror or shower head. Bow from time-to-time if it helps. Try saying to yourself what you are doing: "Now, I'm brushing this tooth. Now this one..." Notice the sounds, temperature, and textures throughout. Put away your toiletries and towels with care. Perhaps when you finish and leave the room, bow and say thank you.
